Fishing: spots, timing and the waterfall
Where the water is, why the waterfall spot was made easier in Patch 1.09, how the 300-catch achievement paces itself, and what fishing feeds into.
The waterfall fishing spot was made easier to use in Patch 1.09, and the Angler Devil achievement asks for 300 fish, so fishing is a long-haul income line rather than a one-off task.
Fishing is the cheapest way to keep a day productive when your field is between harvests, and the waterfall spot is where most players spend it.
Where the water is
| Spot | Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Village river and brook | From the start | Short sessions, low value |
| Waterfall fishing spot | Reachable early | Made easier to use in Patch 1.09 |
| Paddies | Once dug | Not a fishing spot, but they hold water and wildlife |
Patch 1.09's note is specific: the waterfall spot was adjusted to be easier to fish at. If you bounced off it at launch because the prompt was fiddly, try again on a current build.
What fishing is actually for
Fishing feeds four systems at once, which is why it is worth doing even when it pays badly:
- Shipping — fish count toward the yen milestones on the money page.
- Field guide — every species is an entry, and the tracker runs to 1,000 entries.
- Cooking — the kitchen achievements need 100 cooked dishes.
- Requests — villagers ask for fish constantly, and requests are the best early money.
The 300-fish target
| Achievement | Target | Global rate |
|---|---|---|
| Angler Devil | Catch 300 fish | 44.6% |
300 is not a grind, it is a habit. Two short sessions a day for a season gets you there, and you will have shipped a steady trickle of yen while doing it. Compare that with the mining page targets and you can see which system the game expects you to live in.
A fishing routine that does not eat the day
- Fish the waterfall when you are already passing it, not as a dedicated trip.
- Keep every fish until the shipping box is full — the yen tiers do not care what you ship.
- Cook the duplicates instead of shipping them once the kitchen is running.
- Log new species in the field guide before you sell them; entries are permanent, money is not.
