Crafting, building and furniture
The workbench, the processor, Kiki Construction, the Furniture Catalog from Patch 1.20 and the 21 new furniture items added in the two free updates.
The Furniture Catalog, added in Patch 1.20, lets you reorder any furniture you have already bought once, with delivery to your mailbox the next day.
Three different systems get called "crafting" in this game, and mixing them up is why people think a recipe is missing. Here is the separation.
The three benches
| Station | What it does | Achievement |
|---|---|---|
| Workbench | Crafts items from gathered materials | Dr. DIY — craft 500 times (24.5%) |
| Processor | Converts raw goods into processed goods | Do Process — 100 uses (67.3%) |
| Kitchen | Cooks dishes | Kitchen Duty — 100 cooks (28.2%) |
Patch 1.20 added holding the button for continuous loading and unloading on processing machines, which turns a processor line from a tap-fest into a single press.
Building and moving structures
Kiki Construction handles buildings: barns, greenhouses, pens and the rest. Two changes matter.
- Patch 1.30 lets you flip a building horizontally while relocating it. Furniture inside a flipped building goes to the Kiki Construction collection box, so empty it first if you care about the arrangement.
- Patch 1.09 let you build and relocate structures on top of paddies, which quietly changes how a rice block can be laid out.
The achievement for building is brutal and honest about it: Barnraiser, 50 structures, sits at 1.2% — the rarest non-completion achievement in the game.
Furniture: shop, stall and catalog
Furniture comes from the General Store and from Chinana's stall. Patch 1.20 added the Furniture Catalog: once you have bought a piece from either source at least once, you can reorder as many as you like, and orders arrive in your mailbox the next day.
That single item changes decorating from hunting stock into ordering stock. The catalog's prerequisite is Autumn of Year 1 plus one furniture purchase, and Patch 1.30 added decorative trees to what it can order.
| Furniture change | Patch | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Camping series, 11 items | 1.20 | Pheasant Hunting Permit required |
| Plumbing Fixture series, 10 items | 1.30 | Fox Hunting Permit required |
| Furniture Catalog | 1.20 | Reorder anything bought once |
| Decorative trees in catalog | 1.30 | More outdoor options |
| Building mirroring | 1.30 | Flip barns and greenhouses |
| Storage chest rotation | 1.20 | Chests can be turned when lifted |

Small quality-of-life fixes people miss
- Brand names can now be changed from the field guide, and name entry supports up to 8 characters (Patch 1.30).
- Green Dye is easier to obtain as of 1.30.
- Handing items to villagers has a longer range, so you no longer have to stand on their toes.
- The dog can go inside the doghouse.
- The Miracle Whistle no longer stops working when you enter a building on your own farm.

A crafting order that does not stall
- Workbench first — it is the cheapest way to keep the 500-craft counter moving.
- Processor second, and only with materials banked; idle machines count for nothing.
- Kitchen once you have fish and crops to spare.
- Furniture last, after the catalog exists, so you buy each design once.
Decoration is not cosmetic in the long run: furniture is one of the few sinks that keeps your money from sitting idle, and the money page explains why idle money is a waste in this game.
