Magatama, the hokora and skills
Offering magatama at the crossroads hokora restores it stage by stage and opens skills, including the sickle harvest and the prospecting line fixed in 1.08.
Magatama go into the crossroads hokora; each offering pushes its restoration stage and unlocks skills, and Patch 1.30 uses stage three as the gate for buying the seeder.
Magatama are the game's skill currency, and the crossroads hokora is where they go. Understanding the stage system early saves you a season of guessing.
The hokora, stage by stage
The crossroads hokora is restored in stages, and stages are not cosmetic:

What magatama buy
Offering magatama opens skills, and the skills that show up in patch notes are the ones players actually chase:
- Sickle harvest — lets you harvest crops with the sickle. Added as a skill in Patch 1.08, unlocked by offering the appropriate magatama at the crossroads hokora.
- Prospecting Finesse and Prospecting Finesse+ — raise the appearance rate of mining finds. Both were bugged and fixed in Patch 1.08.
- Regalia Wrangler — the third skill in that same bugged group, fixed at the same time.
The lesson from those notes: skills in this game are not flavour text. Three of them were silently doing nothing for a month.
How many magatama you need

500 is the long number. Divinely Blessed at 44.3% is the more useful one: nearly half of players finish the offering list, which means it is a bounded task, not an endless one.
The order to take skills
- Sickle harvest — it changes harvest from a per-crop action into a sweep.
- Prospecting line — mining income and upgrade materials depend on it.
- Anything that raises tool range — the Seeder and the anvil upgrades compound with it.
Do not spread offerings evenly. The hokora rewards depth: a stage completed is a system unlocked.
Where magatama come from
They are picked up in the world, and the counter runs to 500 for the achievement. Practically:
- Clear shrine and hokora areas you pass.
- Do not skip night-event drops; Patch 1.20 added grass-root and seed drops to the nozuchi night event.
- Check the quarry — it is the densest pickup area in the game.
