What are the rules?
The store page states three: don't talk to strangers, don't leave the village, don't go out at night. The story then has you unravel eight rules in total — the achievement list has one entry per rule, from Rule 1 at 80.2% completion down to Rule 8 at 41.9%. The full breakdown is on village rules and the night.
Is there a mode without the horror?
Yes. Village in the Sunshine is the peaceful route: no night attacks, and a different arrival — Nago moves into the village instead of Tobari asking you to restore the hokora. Two late unlocks follow the Sunshine path instead: the birthday event wants Year 2 plus one day after Nago arrives, and the extra farmland expansion waits on Nago taking up residence.
Can I change the language later?
Not in an existing save. Language is set per file at new game and locked afterwards. Change it in Steam's Properties → Language before launching, and if you already started, open an unused slot and choose No at the Japanese warning prompt to reach the language menu. Details on controls.
How do saves work?
One slot, with up to five previous saves kept per slot since Patch 1.09 — but only for saves created after that patch. Keep a spare slot for manual backups before story nights.
How long is it?
There is no official playtime figure, and the achievement spread is the better guide: 95.4% of players have seen a flashback, 41.9% have finished Rule 8, and 0.8% have every achievement. That is a long main route with a much longer completion tail.
Does it have English text?
Yes, since Patch 1.30 on 27 October 2026, together with French and Spanish. Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese were supported earlier.
Is it Steam Deck compatible?
Valve lists it as Verified: default controller config fully functional, controller glyphs match the device, interface text is legible, and the default configuration is performant.
How much does it cost?
$49.99 for the base game. The artbook and soundtrack are $9.99 each, and the Deluxe Edition bundles all three.
What is the current patch?
1.30, released 27 October 2026. It added English, French and Spanish text, the Seeder, the bathroom furniture set, the birthday event, building mirroring and a handful of quality-of-life fixes. The updates page lists every patch since launch.
Are there codes or microtransactions?
No codes, no in-game currency sold for real money. The paid extras are the artbook and soundtrack, plus a paid DLC expansion announced for Spring 2027. The editions page has the prices.
